Sugar Vs Sweeteners
At Panda we understand that there are a number of factors that influence a parent’s decision when choosing a soft drink for their child. A key decision is between choosing drinks containing sugar and those that do not contain sugar – but do contain sweeteners, possibly Aspartame. Whilst excessive amounts of sugar can have detrimental effects on a child’s health and teeth, many parents worry about the effects of Aspartame.
Aspartame is an artificial, or intense, sweetener. Artificial sweeteners are used to replace sugar. They provide the sweet taste that would have otherwise come from sugar but without the calories. The Food Standards Agency regulates which artificial sweeteners can be used, and they have approved Aspartame for use.
Nevertheless, there has been a lot of negative press coverage about aspartame, including its links with hyperactivity. We are aware that some parents would prefer their children not to consume it. (We are also aware that some people may have a genetic condition that means that they cannot ingest Aspartame).
Consequently, ALL Panda drinks contain no added sugar, and no Aspartame.
